The study program of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development was founded in 2006, based on the Decision of National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska. The aim of this study program is to educate students for professional and scientific work in the field of agricultural economics and rural development. This applies to the theoretical and practical knowledge in the bachelor and master studies in specific scientific fields of economics in agriculture and rural development. The studying process of this study program corresponds to the 3 + 2 + 3 year educational system.
Teaching in the first cycle study is organized through six semesters. In the fifth and sixth semesters, students acquire a right to choose optional courses - one in the fifth and two in the sixth semester. The final work carries 10 ECTS credits, by which a student, after completion of the study, gains 180 ECTS credits in total. The first cycle students are taught a wide range of subjects from agricultural economy and economic sciences in agriculture. After completion of the first cycle studies, the students acquire academic title of Engineer of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development - 180 ECTS credits.
On completion of the first cycle of academic studies, students are entitled to work in the fields of primary agricultural production, agricultural institutes, agricultural advisory services, cooperatives, local development agencies, government agencies, and in entities of state and private ownership.
